06.30.2005 // THE WHITE STRIPES - THE DEVIL INSIDE

From The Independent:

"Jack White will never have the blues badly enough. Though The White Stripes' new album, Get Behind Me Satan, suggests the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson's crossroads soul-sale in its title, and the band's music draws deep and long from the genre, the reality that spawned the blues is an unreachable lifetime away. That blues, lived by White heroes such as Johnson and Son House, was born in the Mississippi Delta a century ago, a place so poor you might actually have to eat dirt, in conditions of near-slavery. It was the product of a private black cosmology forged in bloodily violent, wildly hedonist juke-joints that no white man ever visited. It's a far cry from the The White Stripes' foray into Glastonbury next week."

06.28.2005 // iTUNES DOWNLOAD

If you are an Apple iTunes user you can download a free copy of the NPR interview that aired originally on June 9th, 2005. While in iTunes, go to Music Store. Once in the store, scroll down to the bottom right hand side and you will see "The White Stripes" listed under free downloads. This is a crystal clear copy of the show.

For those awaiting the download of the Midtown Music Festival gig, I will have that up soon. The reason I have not put it up yet is due to some minor technical difficulties. I am working to get them resolved so I can put that show up for everyone to download. Don't worry, it will be available soon enough.

06.05.2005 // LA TIMES INTERVIEW

From LAtimes.com:

"The White Stripes' Jack White is ready for a break as he slips behind the wheel of his vintage four-seat Thunderbird and switches on the ignition. White has been working feverishly on a new album, and he is just days away from starting a grueling world tour.

The CD, "Get Behind Me Satan," is a a daring creative advance in which he and drummer Meg White have added layers of imagination and depth to what was an already thrilling sound."
